NSA State Championship June 19th - 20th 2010

The ’99 Virginia Crushers became the 2010 NSA Virginia State Champions, winning the 10U division championship in Sterling, Va. The Crushers defeated the Smithfield Galaxy 12-0 to wrap up the championship. The Crusher hitters jumped on the ball early, scoring five runs in the first inning. Erin Jones led off with a double before back to back singles by Leah Shipp and Serenity Stewart. The Crushers added 3 more runs in the second as Amanda Beane led off with single and Morgan Blot drove in 2 runs with a single.
The Crushers pitching staff of Leah Shipp, Emily Weatherholtz, and Sydney Fisher combined to hold the opposition to 7 runs on 20 hits over 8 games while the Crushers blasted 74 hits and scored 68 runs over the weekend. To reach the championship the Crushers had to face the RBI Inferno from Richmond. The previous day the Inferno had defeated the Crushers 3-2. On Sunday the Crushers jumped on the Inferno pitching. Alyssa Walters went 2-2 with 2 RBIs and Diane Anders scored twice to lead the Crushers to a 10-0 win.
For the weekend Bailey Mastin went .429, Julia Sinnet pounded out 4 doubles while driving in 7 runs, and Madison Hool scored 3 times while playing solid defense.
