This year the Crushers ventured to Stratford, Ct for the ASA Eastern Region Nationals.  The Crushers had a great week, finishing 7-2 and earned 5th place in the Championship.  Great job and congradulations ladies!

 The '99 Virginia Crushers participated in the ultimate softball experience at the ASA 14U Hall of Fame tournament, going 3-3, placing ninth out of twenty-six teams and being only one of twelve teams to play on Sunday. The Crushers accomplished their goals of earning the right to play in the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium (twice) and qualified for ASA Nationals in Normal, IL. The Crushers were eliminated in a heartbreaking 6-5 10 inning loss to the OK Rampage. The Crushers made a short trip to view the devastation in Moore, OK. The Crushers were able to raise $1000 for the American Red Cross for Moore relief. What a touching, life-time experience, both on and off the field!

2013 PGF Vienna Invitational Annandale VA May 18-19

 

'99 Virginia Crushers 14U defeats Glory 14U 7-3

 Diane Anders went 3-3 at the plate as '99 Virginia Crushers 14U took home a 7-3 victory over Virginai Glory Elite 14U in five innings at Wakefield Park #8, Annandale VA on Saturday.

She doubled in the third inning and singled in the first and fifth innings.

Leah Shipp recorded the win for '99 Virginia Crushers 14U. She allowed three runs over five innings. She struck out seven, walked one and surrendered five hits.

'99 Virginia Crushers 14U didn't relinquish the lead after scoring two runs in the first inning when it scored on a two-run single by Lauren Richardson.

Glory 14U tallied one run in each of the first, third and fourth. In the first, Glory 14U scored on an error, bringing home Hannah Faulkenberry.

After posting one run in the second, '99 Virginia Crushers 14U again scored one in the third. In the second, '99 Virginia Crushers 14U scored on an RBI double by Morgan Blot, scoring Erin Jones.

One run in the bottom of the fourth helped Glory 14U close its deficit to 4-3. An RBI single by Jenna G set off Glory 14U rally. Finally, Shipp got Abby Nyquist to strike out to end the threat.

'99 Virginia Crushers 14U built upon its lead with three runs in the fifth. A bases loaded walk scored Anders for the inning's first run. That was followed up by Shipp's single, plating Riley McCarthy.


 

'99 Virginia Crushers 14U falls to Virginia Cannons 8-5 in spite of Leah Shipp's performance
Leah Shipp did all she could to give '99 Virginia Crushers 14U a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past Virginia Cannons, as '99 Virginia Crushers 14U lost 8-5 in six innings at Wakefield Park #8, Annandale VA on Saturday.

 

'99 Virginia Crushers 14U was led by Shipp's hitting. Shipp went 2-2 and scored two runs. She singled in the fourth and sixth innings.

Allison Wagner got the win for Virginia Cannons despite allowing five runs over six innings. She struck out six, walked four and surrendered six hits.

The lead stayed with Virginia Cannons after the second, when it scored seven runs on an error and four singles.

A one-run third inning helped bring '99 Virginia Crushers 14U within five. An RBI triple by Riley McCarthy sparked '99 Virginia Crushers 14U's rally. Wagner ended the inning by getting Lauren Richardson to strike out.

After pushing across one run in the bottom of the fourth, '99 Virginia Crushers 14U faced just a 8-3 deficit. A wild pitch set off '99 Virginia Crushers 14U rally. Finally, Wagner induced an inning-ending ground out from Madison Hool.

After pushing across two runs in the bottom of the sixth, '99 Virginia Crushers 14U faced just a 8-5 deficit. A two-run double by Morgan Blot gave '99 Virginia Crushers 14U life. Wagner ended the game by getting Hannah Johnson to ground out.


 '99 Virginia Crushers 14U offense too much for Vienna Stars 2000 in 13-1 rout

 '99 Virginia Crushers 14U jumped out to an early lead on Vienna Stars 2000 and captured a 13-1 victory on Saturday at Wakefield Park #7, Annandale VA.

The game was decided quickly as '99 Virginia Crushers 14U exerted its will early with six runs in the first three innings.

A two-run single by Leah Shipp, an RBI single by Madison Hool, an RBI single by Hannah Johnson, and a two-run single by Laurel Burke during the first inning supplied the early offense for '99 Virginia Crushers 14U.

Erin Jones got a hit in each of her four at bats. She singled in the first and fourth innings and doubled in the fifth inning.

Shipp pitched lights out for '99 Virginia Crushers 14U. Vienna Stars 2000 managed just one hit off of Shipp, who allowed one earned run, walked three and struck out three during her five innings of work.

'99 Virginia Crushers 14U's Johnson, Jones, Diane Anders and Burke combined for 10 hits and eight RBIs.

'99 Virginia Crushers 14U tacked on another three runs in the fourth. A triple by Anders ignited the '99 Virginia Crushers 14U added four more runs in the top of the fifth. A scored Lexi Magruder for the inning's first run. That was followed up by Johnson's single, plating Hool.

 

 

'99 Virginia Crushers 14U tops Maryland Magic 14U in back-and-forth affair, 5-3

 '99 Virginia Crushers 14U and Maryland Magic 14U exchanged the lead five times on Saturday, but '99 Virginia Crushers 14U ended up on top with a 5-3 win in seven innings over Maryland Magic 14U.

'99 Virginia Crushers 14U finally managed to grab the lead after a strong fifth inning. '99 Virginia Crushers 14U went up for good on an RBI single by Leah Shipp off Rylee Kinseela, plating Riley McCarthy.

McCarthy had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. She singled in the third inning and doubled in the first and fifth innings.

Shipp shut down Maryland Magic 14U while she was on the rubber. Maryland Magic 14U managed just one hit off of the '99 Virginia Crushers 14U's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during her three innings of work.

 Hannah Johnson got the win for '99 Virginia Crushers 14U. She allowed three runs over four innings. Johnson struck out one, walked one and gave up six hits.

Shipp, McCarthy and Laurel Burke helped lead '99 Virginia Crushers 14U. They combined for six hits and two RBIs.

'99 Virginia Crushers 14U jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. '99 Virginia Crushers 14U's offense woke up as Diane Anders singled before McCarthy doubled, scoring Anders.

Maryland Magic 14U quickly matched '99 Virginia Crushers 14U's strong inning with a three-run inning of its own in the first. Maryland Magic 14U scored on an error, a passed ball, and an RBI single by Maria Weddle.

'99 Virginia Crushers 14U put up one run in each of the second, fourth, fifth, and sixth. In the second, '99 Virginia Crushers 14U scored on a wild pitch, plating Lexi Magruder.

 


Big staff effort as two '99 Virginia Crushers 14U pitchers team up for no-hitter in win over Ashburn Shooting Stars - Gold

Two pitchers joined forces to throw a no-hitter for '99 Virginia Crushers 14U in a 13-0 victory in four innings over Ashburn Shooting Stars - Gold on Sunday at Wakefield Park #7, Annandale VA.

Hannah Johnson and Leah Shipp teamed up to stifle Ashburn Shooting Stars - Gold, striking out three while walking one.

Ashburn Shooting Stars - Gold had no answer for Shipp, who kept runners off the basepaths in her appearance. Shipp held Ashburn Shooting Stars - Gold hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.

'99 Virginia Crushers 14U's bats came to life in the fourth inning. In the inning '99 Virginia Crushers 14U scored seven runs.

Erin Jones boosted her batting average thanks to a perfect 2-2 day at the plate to pace '99 Virginia Crushers 14U. She doubled in the first inning and singled in the fourth inning.

The game's last lead went to '99 Virginia Crushers 14U thanks to a first inning rally that saw one run cross the plate on a groundout by Diane Anders.

'99 Virginia Crushers 14U added five more runs in the top of the third. Riley McCarthy kicked things off with a single, plating Anders.

  


Leah Shipp hits and pitches '99 Virginia Crushers 14U to 7-1 victory

'99 Virginia Crushers 14U beat Maryland Magic 14U 7-1 Sunday behind both the bat and the arm of Leah Shipp.

Shipp reached base three times in the game for '99 Virginia Crushers 14U. She scored two runs and had one RBI. She doubled in the second inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Maryland Magic 14U had no answer for Shipp, who kept runners off the base paths in her appearance. Maryland Magic 14U managed just three hits off of Shipp, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during her six innings of work.

'99 Virginia Crushers 14U blew out Maryland Magic 14U thanks to 11 hits, including three extra base hits. '99 Virginia Crushers 14U scored three runs in the second on a walk by Laurel Burke and a two-run double by Diane Anders.

'99 Virginia Crushers 14U pushed across one run in both the fourth inning and the fifth. In the fourth, '99 Virginia Crushers 14U scored on an RBI single by Anders, bringing home Madison Hool.

'99 Virginia Crushers 14U added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth. Shipp singled, scoring Riley McCarthy to start the inning. That was followed up by Hannah Johnson's single, plating Shipp.

 

 

'99 Virginia Crushers 14U gets more hits, but not more runs in 3-2 loss to the VA Lady Titans

 '99 Virginia Crushers 14U lost 3-2 in seven innings at Wakefield #7, Annandale VA on Sunday, despite outhitting the VA Lady Titans five to four.

Leah Shipp handled the VA Lady Titans' lineup with ease, racking up 12 strikeouts. Shipp allowed one earned run, four hits and no walks over seven innings.

Arleigh got the win for the VA Lady Titans. She allowed two runs over seven innings. She struck out four, walked none and surrendered five hits.
